Project Background

In recent years, the manufacturing sectors in Germany and Mexico have been continuously upgrading, driving significant growth in demand for high-end screws and precision fasteners. As a global benchmark for advanced manufacturing, Germany maintains stringent quality requirements for high-strength, precision fasteners in industries such as automotive and machinery equipment. Meanwhile, leveraging its strategic position within the North American free trade zone, Mexico has experienced rapid development in automotive manufacturing and aerospace industries, creating vast opportunities for premium fastener suppliers.

To seize this strategic opportunity, the Hong Kong Screw & Fastener Council Limited has successfully secured funding from the Hong Kong Trade and Industry Department's "Trade and Industry Organisation Support Fund" (TSF) to launch a dedicated market expansion initiative. This project, organized by the Hong Kong Screw & Fastener Council Limited and implemented by the Hong Kong Productivity Council, aims to assist Hong Kong enterprises in penetrating these two high-value markets.

The initiative will focus on promoting Hong Kong's technological strengths in high-performance alloy fasteners, automotive-specific screws, and aerospace-grade fasteners. Through technical seminars, factory visits, and business matchmaking activities, the project will help Hong Kong companies connect with procurement demands from Germany's precision engineering sector and Mexico's automotive supply chains. Additionally, an online showcase platform will be established to highlight Hong Kong's core competitive advantages in material R&D, precision machining, and quality control.

This expansion plan not only creates direct business opportunities for Hong Kong enterprises but also enhances the brand influence of Hong Kong's fastener industry in high-end global markets, fostering synergistic development with the manufacturing sectors in Germany and Mexico.

Project objective

This project is funded by the "Trade and Industry Organisation Support Fund" of the Trade and Industry Department. It aims to assist Hong Kong screw and fastener enterprises in expanding into high-value-added industrial markets in Germany and Mexico (including automotive manufacturing, aerospace, and precision engineering sectors), providing more opportunities for Hong Kong SMEs to access these high-potential markets.
